Pyrénées

The exuberant meeting of the Pyrenees in Spain and the Mediterranean, overlooking the Costa Brava, fades as you walk along the centuries-old paths linking the villages of the Girona Pyrenees. This mountainous area, which stretches from east to west, from Cap Creus to the Alpine ski resorts, offers an astonishing contrast with this azure environment: the blue shadows of the thick forests cannot hide this internal green interspersed with meadows and meadows, lakes and fields.

It's a landscape of strength and restrained gentleness, just like its inhabitants, mountain dwellers who respect their environment, reserved but welcoming.

An area where man and nature merge in places like the Benedictine monastery of Ripoll, founded in 879, or Sant Juan des Abadesses. 
An area where man can also feel overwhelmed by the beauty and strength of extraordinary places such as the volcanic areas of La Garrotxa, Beget, Oix and Besalu.

It's in this spirit of mutual respect that some of Europe's best-known downhill and cross-country ski resorts have sprung up: Vallter in Setcases, Nuria on the site of the monastery of the same name, Masella and La Molina.
